    This is the pattern I used for the jars. http://bugjarquilt.blogspot.com/. For the "bookcase" I added a 1.5" strip under the rows of sewn blocks and then a 2.5" strip around the outside.

    Wow, how wonderful, my son would have loved this, he loved collecting all those 'bug books' that came out in the 90's.
