    I didn't put handles on mine but some of the ladies did. Yes you just slide the dish in on one side and you use the spoon to hold it closed. Some of the other ladies have put a button on instead of the spoon. You can make these any way you want. all you do is just sew three sides of the placemats together. It is very easy. Let me know if you have any more questions or if you want me to walk you thru it.
