My Mother made this the year before she passed away. It has 24 buttons on it - at the bottom there are 24 pockets. Inside each pocket is a ornamental button that she tied gold thread to. Each day an ornament is to be taken out of the pocket and placed on the tree - so on Christmas Eve, the tree is fully decorated.

    I just love it :)

You are very lucky to have a wonderful gift to remember your mother by. It's a really a nice way to have her with you every year at the Christmas season.

What a lovely idea to keep it for future years. I made a tree for my twin DGDs when they were 4 or 5 with small ornaments on ribbon to hang on th buttons. I have no idea if it survived

It was the most fun just to find decorative buttons. There was a button shop in Freeport ME at the time -- some as much as 3 and 4 $$$
