But it was only enough for a lap size and he thinks ALL quilts should be BIG. So dang it (LOL) we had to stop at more quilts shops and find more civil war fabric. The bed is in my sewing rm, that my design spot. And as i sew i lay the sections over the bed.
Itl looks very nice, but i love the iron bed just as much.My maternal grand mother use to have one just like it,sorry to say she has been gone since 1977 I was only 14 at the time, she also was a great quilter and christian, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.I truely miss her so much.

I love the fabrics and the pattern. Would you need another row across the bottom to make it long enough on that particular bed though?

I would quilt it by hand as that is what they did back in those days. Depending on what the batting says as far as space between, I would just inside of each sq or half squares. Beautiful quilt and I know it will be appreciated.

Last week I picked up a book on Civil War quilts and it looks like they did simple quilting, cross hatching or eco quilting. I don't know how historically correct the book is but the quilts are stunning. Keep us posted as to what you decide, your quilt is beautiful.

Wow!! You have a beautiful quilt.
Love the colors and fabrics from that era.
I also admire the samples on your wall.
    Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
