    Default Deviating from pattern instructions

The instructions for this quilt pattern directed that it be completed with hundreds of individual pieces, squares and triangles. It appeared to me that it could be done with strip piecing, assemble in diagonal rows then put in setting triangles. It took a bit of math. The squares needed to be slightly larger for measuring convenience. I found a website with a formula for sizing the setting triangles and it worked. Strip piecing is much faster and easier. Patterns can be improved.

I totally agree. Often they give you the hard way of doing things

I agree as well. Just because someone prints a pattern for a quilt you like does not mean that the pattern shows the best way to do it. In many cases it is even wrong. We need to think independently. Good for you.
    Very nice quilt.

Great quilt top! I've only made minor deviations in putting together a quilt from a pattern - nothing as major as your undertaking - good thinking. Love the carpet under the quilt too.

Great quilt. I'm a friend of strip quilting, also. Your applique is really nice.

Great ingenuity, and even better result. Such a lovely quilt. Is that website with the calculations found on the resource board here?
