    I would say a solid medium yellow, medium pink, or Kona Black for your centers.

    You did a wonderful job on that! I go with red.
    You don't need sashing unless you really want it. Anything would work for the borders.

    I think the centers and corner posts should be red, but it must be several different reds. Maybe find a package of fat eighths, or quarters. Then some medium value print you just adore, for the sashings.

    I agree, this sounds like a great idea! I'm trying to choose centers/background and maybe sashing for my Dresden WIP right now also. I really like the idea of several different reds instead of just one fabric.
