    Default Dress with quilted bodice

I made this a couple weeks ago for my little niece's birthday. It was something I had not tried before and I liked how I was able to make a companion fabric to set into the otherwise plain seersucker fabric to kind of dress it up. My niece picked the original fabric, so I wanted to surprise her by quilting some overlay embroidered tulle onto the collar and pockets. I just placed the fabric over the cut pieces and quilted them down in such a way as to not distract from the design and then made the dress according to directions. It turned out great so I thought I would share my idea with you girls just in case you find yourself in this situation. Anyway, Here it is all finished.

Funny how the quilting spills into our other sewing.

Thank you so much ladies. I love seersucker in the summer. It has those little open holes for vents and just the right weight. I have two joan rivers seersucker boyfriend tops and they are so easy to care for. Wash and wear, what could be easier?
