Congratulations! Great job! That looks so similar to my first quilt, the scrappy rectangles surrounded by the border.

I love this quilt. But I don't understand how you made some of the crosswise pieces merge into the border like that. It looks so interesting, and possibly difficult. I don't see a lot of seams, so did you use partial seams?

Thank you everyone. It was fun project but I think I'm going to make littler quilts for awhile, now that I have the experience of making a big honkin' one.

I really like the combination of the serpentine stitch and ruler work. Congratulations on a beautiful finish!

I hope I can describe it in a way that's understandable. lol

    Jelly Roll = JR.
    1. I did a horizontal JR racer in the middle and cut off the protruding ends of the strips so everything became a nice rectangle, and I set those cutoff strip ends to the side.
    2. Sewed the black borders all the way around the rectangle.
    3. Sewed the vertical side strips together.
    4. Sewed the cut off JR ends, and the vertical strips, to the black borders, making sure the JR end positions matched their corresponding strips. (The ends were already sewn together, side-by-side, from before I cut them off.)
    5. Appliqued the JR ends to the top of the vertical strips so they wouldn't be attached only to the black border and flapping around.

Hopefully this isn't as clear as mud.
