    Default Finished abandoned string blocks

I made up for all the years I abandoned my scrappy string blocks. I got to work this morning. Some of it was a challenge, as I had not mastered 1/4 inch seams when the old blocks were made. Fortunately, busy scrappies are very forgiving and mistakes fade. I decided to use some striped black/white material for binding. I thought the black/white checkerboard border on a previous scrappy complemented the quilt. I think it worked well on this one. When I first started quilting, I would never have attempted using fabric that was not matchy matchy. I dare myself now and most of the time I'm pretty happy with the results. Another sign of "ahem" maturing. I was very pleased to find backing fabric in my stash, a big length, with the Goodwill tag still on it, $2.99, very satisfying. Everything was from my stash.

Love how you made the black centers and the checkerboard binding. Really pulls it together.
