    Default First attempt at QAYG

Today I decided to try the Quilt as you Go method. It's something I've been looking into for a long time & finally decided to try Leah Day's method that she demonstrates on a tutorial here:

    https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...53C8&FORM=VIRE

I really found that I like her method.
I decided to make some string blocks but instead of squares, I made them rectangular. I quilted them in just straight, simple lines & then joined them together. I'll probably use this little sample as a place mat (or something).

If & when I ever get my Calif. King quilt top finished I will use this technique on it.

I have wanted to try this but haven't yet. Maybe when I get around to my king size bed quilt... one day!

    Thanks for sharing!

Good job, I would have to learn the technique in order to do it. I remember years ago there was a lovely lady here on the board, who did a tutorial on this process but I just couldn't get it so never tried. I have a pattern for a oversized sort of crazy block that I would love to try this on I think it's about 25 inches square. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Very pretty.

There are at least two tutorials on this board with good directions on the QAYG technique. I have made quilts using them, easy to understand and do.

Your little quilt looks great. I think this is a great technique and there are several variations for which tutorials are available. I know they are some more time consuming that long arm quilting. But, they allow the users of DSMs to have great looks without very major expense of money and space.
