    Beautiful quilt, lovely idea.
    Biffy,

There is no actual pattern for the "sew and flip" technique. You start with an irregularly shaped focus fabric (usually 5 sides) and lay it in the center of a square of foundation fabric a little larger than the block size you want. Then scrap fabrics (frequently first cut into manageable strips) are sewn on one by one. After each seam, the fabric is “flipped” and pressed into place. The excess is trimmed as you go, in order to reduce bulk. It is very similar to a "crazy quilt." I love this technique, because no templates are required, and you use scraps and just see what happens!

Because I have trouble machine quilting large things, I use the "quilt as you go" method after all of the blocks are constructed. First each block is quilted (I use stitch in the ditch) to a backing fabric with batting between, of course. After they are trimmed to size, they are connected with a narrow sashing in the QAYG method. You could choose any method of setting the blocks and quilting.

My avatar is "sew and flip" set on point and finished with QAYG.

Oh, that's sew cute! Snoopy was my favorite when I was in college and it's good to see he's still with us! That checked border sets it off beautifully! It must have been fun to plan and stitch!
