This measures a bit over 14 inches in diameter. It's just the plate, haven't appliqued it to the backing fabric yet.

Theme for this is the 4 Elements. I'm probably going to do it on a white or black background. When I do applique the center, it's going to be a dark green. My question is what color background should I put it on?

I took the photo on the back of a 3D Craft/Project display foam board that's been laying around the house for a while.

And what color thread should I quilt it with?

    Maybe a green background?

Black would be a great contrast

I am going to hand applique it.

Thanks! I like the idea of a green for the background.

If your centers are going to be dark green, I'd lean toward that as my background. Anxious to see what the finished quilt looks like. I sure do like your colors. Looks very pretty on that black backgroud.

I think it looks great sitting on that black background! Really makes the colors pop!

Audition a few different colors, lay the Dresden plate on some colors and see what you like best

I think a great shinny gold on black for quilting would bring more life to the Dresden Fan, .....or multi color thread..but thats my thought..
