My best friend & I went to Houston International Quilt Festival 2009. Words just can't describe  We shopped & shopped & shopped. We saw beautiful quilts. We saw lots of "Quilt Celebritites"..Ricky Tims, Alex Anderson, Ammi Sims, Karen McTavish, John Flynn, Loralie, Jody Barrows, sisters Roberta Horton & Mary Mashuta, Linda & Rick Taylor, Liza Prior Lucy...got my picture with Eleanor Burns. The few we met and were able to converse with, were just wonderful, gracious people and so eager to visit with the public. We went to three lectures by Lyric Kinard, Esterita Austin & Helen Young Frost, all great and took shuttle to the play "Quilters" which was just terrific. I have lots of new patterns to try and of course fabric to play with.. It was a real treat and I came home REVIVED and ready for lots of new projects.

Me & Eleanor Burns in her booth.

I'm jealous! That is too cool. Looks like you had a grand time.

I would have spent a small fortune. How does one decide what to buy or better yet, what not to buy?

What an eye candy store behind you.

    Love El's work and teachings.

    Maybe someday.

Well fellow quilters it was awesome. And a little overwhelming. It was my third time (2001 & 2002). I would make notes and sketches every nite in our hotel room to help me remember everything. Here's hoping you all have a chance to go....at least one time. (and I did save for a long time to be able to spend it all in a short time....hehehe)

I know exactly how you feel as I was there with friends on Thursday. We were suppose to stay thru Friday but there was a death in the family of one of my friends with me so we had to leave early Friday morning.
We were able to spend from 11 till 7 there on Thursday and I did manage to spend most of what I had been saving all year. I got the cutting matt I was wanting. We did not even get thru half of it. One of the friends with me this was her first time there. She loved it.
