The quilting is so beautiful! The simple, pieced top is a perfect background for the quilting. This quilt is just perfect.

    That is simply gorgeous!
I have no idea what LA'ers mean when they say "freehand", "panto" etc.
Obviously, I've never used a long arm!

I never made this quilt I just long arm quilted it. But if you do a search for 1/2 square triangle quilt layouts it will pop up. I did a search for everyone asking and there are lots of layouts. I do plan on making one one day. Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

Gorgeous! Your quilting is magnificent! What a wonderful way (through quilting) to enhance the simplicity and dignity of the pattern. Great job!

It looks like a Depression Block. http://www.quilterscache.com/D/DepressionBlock.html I know it looks very different scrappy.

It looks very different done in different colors. I just finished one done in Pink/Orange/White. Leftovers from a different quilt. The quilting isn't custom on mine. Just an allover design. So the quilting on the navy and white quilt really elevates the block/quilt design.

Although, I'm not entirely sure that the maker used all half square triangles??? So, it may have been constructed differently.

Thank you for your post. I am getting closer to find how to make this beauty, thanks to you. I wish one of those quilt expert ladies on this board would take hold of this and tell me what to exactly do. Yours is so close. Maybe I just have to jump in with that depression block! Thanks again.
