    Default Hawaiian Wall Quilt Finished

Just finished this wall quilt "You Are In Our Hearts" by Nancy Chong from Pacific Rim Quilt Company. It is a Christmas gift for son and wife that didn't get finished in time. The other picture is what I am working on now, designed using Nancy's book/DVD "Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt" and in class help from Nancy herself. I am so loving Hawaiian quilts, still do pieced quilting but love to have something to work on when watching TV or going somewhere without having to haul a sewing machine.

Both your quilts are lovely. I especially like the dolphin theme quilt. When I was a young girl I probably read every book in our public library on dolphins and whales. I wanted to be a marine biologist like Jacques Cousteau. Your quilt reminds me of the fascination and love I had and still have for these graceful animals.

I am enthralled with Hawaiian quilts. It is on my bucket list. I keep checking out the Pacific Rim quilt website but have yet to make a commitment. Both are gorgeous quilts. You were able to take a class with Nancy...Wow. I would love to attend one of her classes. I do the backbasting appliqué technique. I'm so envious.

Nancy now lives in Everett, WA and has classes at several of the LQS's in the area. I attend a monthly group in Snohomish where Nancy helps us with so many techniques, mostly regarding applique but other subjects as well. We spend 3 hours talking, sharing, learning and laughing. She has classes online through the Academy of Quilting (which I took several years ago and recommend) and her DVD's at Pacific Rim Quilt website are excellent also. Dig into that bucket and go for it, they look intimidating but if you're already doing applique you'll find them easy.
