We are driving up toward Chicago tomorrow and I am considering purchasing this cabinet at Ikea. It has a wood top and I thought it would be a great cutting surface WITH storage underneath. No wasted space like I have under my current fold up banquet table. DH agrees that it would be nice looking and I can pop the $500 for it. My sewing area is in the basement across from our family room. I guess he doesn't like all my plastic totes stacked in the corner!! I'm sure I saw someone on here with an avatar of a cabinet like this. If so, let me know how you like yours.

What is not to like. That would be an asset to any working space.

Looks great . Just check the height to see if it works for you. I could see two of them back to back for a extreme cutting table. Hhmm.

I love them. I would just caution.....Check to see how deep the drawers are and how much fabic they will hold, if that is what your going to put in them. The drawers don't look that deep. For me the Height would be the next thing. Don't want to break my back because it's too low. Just food for thought.

Hope it works out for you. Beautiful piece

I've see it because we go to IKEA regularly. Believe it is from the "portable kitchen" section so it probably is counter-height and about as wide. Check if the fronts close properly or if dust or bugs could get into the cubbies. I find that with my IKEA cabinets I have that problem.

You will love it! I don't have this one, but I have the one with the big doors on the bottom and one drawer on each side. I can fit tons of stuff into the drawers on the one I have. I store batting and boxes of fat qtrs in the big sections. I put my cutting mat on the top and it is the perfect height for me. I can also store boxes of projects under the thing. Did I say I love mine? Even if you don't store fabric in the drawers you can fit patterns, organize scraps, thread, yarn, other craft stuff, cutting and marking tools and so on.

I love that cabinet! Well, I love the IDEA of that cabinet, as I don't have one!
Here is a website for you with pictures of someone that is using it in their studio. (She truly has a studio! I'm jealous of it!!)
    Enjoy!
