Gorgeous quilt!!!! You just ran into one mans opinion. Back when he was young that's the way they did things. Progress has made so many changes. Your quilt is definitely one to be proud of :-D

Absolutely beautiful!! I agree with the other comments that some people aren't happy unless they make someone else unhappy!

:-( Grumpy old people should just keep their 'grump' to themselves. Hugs to you and you should be proud of your quilt and your work, ALWAYS!

My mother-in-law kept saying that every time she would come to visit. It was driving me crazy. Then she showed up this last Thanksgiving and wanted to "whip" together a t-shirt quilt for her grandson. Because after all we "new generation" quilters did it so fast and didn't have to save and gather fabric etc, etc.... Well I made her buy the fabric and the fusible. I donated the batting and rails etc. And then she started bitching again that she couldn't believe fabric cost so much and we were at Hancock's not even a quilt shop! Then she couldn't believe that it took so long to put together etc.....and the tools that were needed.......errrr.......... I was even cutting the fabric...she was only sewing. And because I have an A-1 Longarm I was able to quilt it before she left town. Now this meant I also had to have Thanksgiving dinner cooked, stop anything I was working on, sell Real Estate and finish quilting a very large t-shirt quilt that week. I do think she finally has a little bit more appreciation for quilters and hopefully will think twice about "surprising" me with request.............but I doubt it!
I agree with everyone else on this thread, ignore the old man and we quilters all think your quilt is beautiful and know the hours you have lovingly put into it! You should be very proud of it.

He's just a grumpy old man, ignor him. Your quilt is beautiful. He probably drives a nice new car. So what's the difference. I'd only worry about it if I saw him driving a Studebaker. LOL

OMG - that is gorgeous! I would have told him that he is entitled to his opinion, but my mother always told me "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". I LOVE that quilt - awesome job!!!!!!

This was a large full size which I had quilted double feathered wreaths on, so it took about 15 hours of quilting time. He grunted and made a comment about he bet the fabric was even new. Then he went into a loud and lenghty speach about how women these days don't know how to make a quilt. How they (quilts) should be made from scraps of clothing. Should never be made from new material. Should all be done by hand, etc. on and on. I really felt small. I finally folded my quilt and went to my car to wait on my husband.
Many Hug's to you!!! Your quilt is absolutely Beautifull!! Ignore people like that!! You did a wonderfull job! I bet he could not begin to make that quilt!
