Showed your beautiful quilt to my DH. Told him I should make one for him. He asked why. I told him because he has a wife who just absolutely loves Lighthouses. LOL

Excellent gal. It took you time but it was worth it, hope you enter it into a quilt contest or show near you. Love the Navy flags in it and light streams coming from each light house. I wish my navy husband were still alive he would want me to do something like this for him for sure. Enjoy all the honors, you deserve them.

I love, love, love this quilt! Being in michigan and loving lighthouses how could i not love it? I boughtna couple of the lighthouse squares a long time ago and made a wallhanging, but this is amazing. Your quilter also did an amazing job.

Thank you so much for your wonderful words. I think the quilting that Barb did on my quilt really set it alive. The lighthouses were printed on muslin. I had them awhile and didn't know what to do with them. I took a hand piecing class and one of the patterns was this star which she called evening star. When I saw it somehow it reminded me of a compass and I thought about my lighthouses and how they would fit in the center if I enlarged the pattern. Each block is 18 inches. I originally was only going to do the red, black and off white to go with the lighthouses. When my daughter's teacher suggested adding the flags I thought I could do them in those colors. He said they wouldn't mean the same and be right so thus the flags began in their colors they are suppose to be in. I just followed the pictures I had and made it so they were 4.5 inch blocks. It took me awhile to figure it out. Then I thought nobody would know what they meant so that's why I paper pieced the words across the top and bottom. After putting it all together I liked it. I originally was going to hand quilt but since I just learned how I didn't want to ruin it. Then my Long Armer and my daughter and myself kinda talked out the design and this is what she came up with. I was so happy with her quilting. thanks again for your nice comments.
