    Default A little skill builder

In a effort to broaden my horizons and my patience I dug through some scraps and put this little table topper together in a few hours. I thought it came out acceptable enough that a lone star quilt is now on my to do list for this year. I have a few too many jelly rolls, and they are my least favorite precut to work with, and my goal is to get a few quilts done that use them so that I no longer feel guilty for having purchased them. These little ones also allow me to practice on with my Prostticher, which I am loving so much!

Just perfect to practice on your Pro Stitcher! Now try using triangles and blocks. Really break it up for some custom quilting!

A few hours? Really? It would have taken me nearly that long to pick out fabrics … LOL

    It's really pretty.

Tallchick; check out Donna Jordan's you tube tutorials (she has 166). She does quilts with MOSTLY jelly rolls; some charm packs; some 10" squares and I've seen one done with fat quarters and she has a LOT of free patterns on their web site. I'd LOVE to go to their store (they are in Grants Pass, OR) but it'd be a place where I'd get into serious buying trouble. I'd probably have a lot of company though. I like her videos. After you've watched a few some of her tips get redundant BUT it is for those who first see her tuts. She is an excellent quilter.

Making a table topper as a prelude to committing to a lone star = brilliant idea! I might have to try that

Your topper is wonderful - great fabrics, perfect points, beautiful quilting. Looking forward to seeing a full lone star next!

fun table topper! Good idea to practice a block or two first. Did you really buy too many jelly rolls? LOL.
