Default Merry Christmas from Grandmas Closet

I've had my Sweet MotherInLaw's stash trying to make her Grandchildren each a quilt. She had three nice pieces of Christmas fabric which I left in her closet because....I didn't want to use it in the grandchildren quilts. SOOOooo....they called me to help take care of her the end of September. While there, I decided to use her fabric on Christmas Quilts for her six children. My niece helped me pick out extra reds and greens so we could actually make SIX. We decided to get fun snuggly minky to back them. The deal was, if my niece and my daughter helped they could take the extra fabric and make themselves their own Grandma Christmas Quilt. Grandma was deteriorating so we didn't have a lot of time. She passed 10 days after I got there. It was a difficult time but we truly felt her with us as we sewed the tops in the next week prior to the funeral. We did a fast D9P and kept grandmas fabric in the large corners and the deep green center. I took the tops back to Texas to finish. I wanted them delivered at Thanksgiving so the six kids could enjoy them through the Christmas season. Because the minky is soooo fluffy I just tied them all and turned the edge to the front for a fun snuggly border. I tied them quickly ON THE FLOOR because I was in such a hurry to complete them as hubby returned early November to Idaho to help clean his moms house. He delivered four at this time. And gave one to his brother who lives closer in Texas Thanksgiving week. I know there simple but they were thrown together quickly with much love. (Sorry for such a long post.)

I absolutely love what you chose to do with Grandma's stash of fabrics the signature block is perfect. I know if I were one of her family members child or grandchild I would cherish that gift and you.

Great idea for the 6 quilts for her kids. And you are doing an awesome job on the grandkids' quilts!

Thanks everyone. They aren't fancy, but we were in a rush to finish. Everyone will get a nicer quilt soon.
