Gorgeous gorgeous quilt! Can't believe it's been 30 years since you've done any quilting but what a restart.

You would never know that you had a 30 year hiatus! Your quilt is gorgeous.

Well, I may have embellished by a couple of years... My mother-in-law got me quilting when I was dating my husband back in the late '70's. I made two quilts with her assistance, both appliquéd by hand, with poly/cotton broadcloth, no rotary cutters, but with cardboard templates and scissors as technical as it got at the time. We ripped the sashing and the blocks to ensure squareness. We hand quilted the queen sized quilts on a frame of four boards c-clamped together in her dining room. Neighbours and close-living relatives would stop in now and then to help get the quilt quilted.
In 1981, my husband and I moved across the country to find work and ended up staying 3 provinces away and raising our family, hence no time for quilting. When we left the workforce in 2007, I felt I then would have the time to get back into quilting. Of course the world of quilting had advanced light years ahead, like everything else these days, and machine piecing blocks and patterns intrigued me. I saw the Colourwash Irish Chain displayed at a local quilt show and figured that was the quilt for me to try and get back into the quilting groove. By the time I had drafted my own out on 1/4 inch graph paper and colored pencils, I finally found a book on the Irish Chain (because i didn't know the name of it to Google it at the time and finally got the name from a member of the local quilt guild) with instructions for strip piecing. What a concept for me at the time! Anyway, I babble on here. But the fact is I started this quilt in 2008 and the tag I put on the finished quilt is dated 2009. So I guess it was only about 26-28 years. I thank my dearest mother-in-law for introducing me to the world of quilting to this day and wish she was still around to share the joy of it with me.
To all of you who share and enjoy the addiction, the joy, the therapy, and the love of quilting my hat is off to you! A big thank you to all who share their knowledge here so generously, and make it possible for anyone to enjoy success in the art of quilting.

Oh wow! That is so beautiful! I have only made the single line Irish chain, but you have inspired me to take it further!
