I can't believe this is your first!!! It is so pretty and well correct. I'm more determined than ever to get a polished looking end product. Nice job

Barbareeba -- you did great! I posted the link for the bag a while ago. I made one too but I cannot post a photo. My only comment is I found the magnetic snap so strong I am in danger of tearing the fabric. I have covered the snap with strips of velcro and it works well. I have also added a metal ring on a strip of lining for my keys and put a second pocket inside too.
Moonangel12 -- the bag is 9 1/2" deep and about 11" across the top at the opening. You can judge if your Bible and notebood will fit. If not, you could print out the pattern and enlarge it as needed.

I made one today! It wasn't quite as difficult as I had anticipated, but I did almost sew the straps inside the lining  I'm not so great at following directions sometimes... thankfully I thought things through before I sewed it all together. It's not too shabby for my first try though! Definitely smaller than what I had anticipated (it's a gift for someone else) so I would definitely need to enlarge it if I decided to make one for myself. Oh, and I am putting just a plain plastic KAM snap for the closure b/c I didn't have any magnetic closures, and like myrna mentioned, I wasn't sure how well it would hold up with just the single layer of fabric.
