    Default Neice's Wedding Quilt

Finally!! This was a deceptively simple pattern. Its name is Magic Squares by Helene Knott for Story Quilts. The same block made in 4, 8 and 12 inch sizes (finished) and then put together. All fabrics were Stonehenge by Northcott.

I found that each block had to be trimmed very precisely or they would not fit properly. And then, the pattern was for a lap or twin size while I wanted a Queen. Yep, ended up totally changing the layout and, of course, making it just a wee bit (whole lot) harder to put together. I am thoroughly sick of HST's and would be happy to never see another one in this lifetime (or at least for the next few months!) And POINTS!!! I HATE points!! I think I will devote myself to circular quilts from now on!! This quilt probably has more weight from thread than it will have from batting!!!

When I was laying it out for the photo, I found one glaring error--which I will deal with tomorrow. Right now I am sitting down to a very well deserved beverage.

The pattern calls for a narrow border using the green and then a wider border using the rusty colour. I am thinking that it may look better with a narrow border of the darkest fabric and then a wider border of the green. I shall try a few combinations and decide tomorrow.

    Thanks for looking.

That is just stunning. Fabric color choice is vital in these types of patterns and yours are PERFECT!!!!

Looks stunning! The error may be obvious to you but I can't see it.
