I had not realized how dirty my ironing board cover had gotten until last week (the padded board that goes over the regular ironing board). So (with encouragement from all of you here) I asked DH if he could take it off and put a new cover on it for me. He said he would, so within two days I had a lovely new cover on my quilt ironing board! You guys are great!

    Really looks much nicer now!

Used some quality material I have plenty of and bought at a garage sale

I'd love to know how you did it too. I have a big board ironing board and probably could use a clean cover. Can you take it off and wash it or is it on permanently?

I use a stripe fabric and get it on as straight as I can. Helps me line things up. I love my big board!

The old fabric on it was so stained (and old) that even soaking it twice in HOT HOT HOT Oxyclean did not get it done. [note: The big quilting board comes off the ironing board.] DH said the old cover was merely stapled on. SO, with some hard work and elbow grease, he was able to remove the staples, the cover material and the batting. SO...I used the clean but still stained old one to cut a new piece of material. DH merely flipped the batting over (it was badly stained too) centered the new cover and and stapled it on! It was a really nice thing he did for me! Now I'm talking to him about making a sewing table extension for me for Christmas! hehehe

The big board goes on my regular ironing board. I can then iron the full width of fabric and other large items!
