How darling - I will be making a baby boy quilt in the next few weeks and still haven't found the perfect pattern. I love your blocks!

I am so stealing this idea!! I have these panels & some of the matching fabric that looks like the inside cover of the Golden books. thi swas my favorite book when I was little...and with our first great grandchild on the way...this will work perfectly! if it's a boy, I'll also steal your color combo...and if a girl...I' substitute the blue for pink!

I bought the fabric for me...but I think this will give it even more special meaning...having it for a great grandbaby!
    Thanks for the great idea!

It was one of the Little Golden Books fabric releases to celebrate the 65th anniversary of these books. I used the cover and the 12 pages from the book. There was a page with the classic "This Little Golden Book Belongs to" and I embroidered the baby's name there for the back quilt label. I included a copy of the actual book with the quilt, along with a few other books.

One thing I've found in working with panels is that they are not always straight, and cutting even blocks can be challenging. It can get worse if you prewash/dry. Although I always prewash my fabric, I did not for this panel. I carefully squared up each block and then washed the final quilt with a color catcher.

An adorable quilt that will make the new mom and baby very happy! Love the way you used the "book belongs to" page! Great job!

Love the quilt, what a great idea. I have made lots of the fabric books, never thought of making a quilt from them.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Apparently I'm not the only one who loved Little Golden Books!

Quilting Jaguar, I ordered the panel from Fabric.com
    http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail....9-44bf8bb1fb9a

It is available on some other sites if you do a Google search. I think this panel, as well as Saggy Baggy Elephant, Shy Little Kitten and a few others were also released last year. There are some coordinating fabrics as well, but I didn't order any, instead using some things from my stash.

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Have you noticed how many comments are along the lines of wanting to make a quilt just like yours? Well, me too since there are 2 great grands in the near future and I know that the mommas would just love one like yours.
