    Default Practice Mug Rug

I am making 40 of these for a church event. They will be in various pastels with a little bold thrown in. I am not supplying mugs, just took a photo with one for size reference. The binding is not great as I rushed!
i also plan to stitch around the raw edges on my appliqué. Any suggestions?

40 of them, good for you.
I make my mug rugs 8 by 10 inches with insul-brite so they can also be used for hot pads. Also I have the backing 1 inch larger all the way around, bring it to the front and fold the edge under instead of a separate binding and use a decorative stitch on it. That speeds up the process since I don't have to sew on the binding.

Have fun with using lots of colors and prints.

Thanks for the measurements and ideas jbening! I was thinking I should avoid all that binding Mine will be 6x8 when finished. I have a friend come over to help! She can press each one and iron on the butterflies.
