I am so happy you found your baby. I reccomend "Featherweight 221 The Perfect Portable and its stitches across history by Nancy-Johnson-Srebro. It will teach you how to fix everything. Its great! When Matilda stopped for no good reason. I got the book out and took apart the bobbinholder thingy and lo and behold a little thread was behind it. I cleaned and oiled it and haven't had another problem. Also, make sure you have one of those little metal dishes that are magnetic as those screws are tiny.

I had heard good things about that book before. I've got it on my wish list...hopefully next payday I can order it. Thanks!

    What a beaut!

Wonder if my 2 yr old Janome 9500 emb/sew mc will fetch somebody some cash in 20 or 30 years??? NOT!! Its not a REAL sewing machine...its a computer with a needle. I love it, it cost a bundle, but my favorite machine is the one I learned on in the 1960s, a Singer modified treadle-electric that was Mother's pride & joy.

Well, it's been almost a week and I must say, I am so impressed by the Featherweight! I love sewing with it! The stitches are so straight and it's quiet, so I can sew at night. I wish I had more time to sew with her, but am making the most of the time I do have. I've got most of one quilt top done and worked on an old project too. I'm so happy I decided to get it!

Now I totally understand the facination with it! :)
