    Default Quilt/Craft Tote

Hi Quilters, I didn’t want to start on another quilt, at the end of a week of running somewhere just about everyday, so I was looking online and found a tote like this called an H tote. I was hoping to make it big enough to carry a large throw quilt in. However, mine will only hold two childs quilts, my jellybean and the tumbler. So I guess I’ll carry craft stuff in it. I didn’t have the pattern but I watched the video and of course they don’t give measurements. I cut this one 22 1/2 wide and 21 inch tall. That’s as wide as my fabric was and I didn’t have much of the yellow stripe. I did cut my 5 inch square out at the top for your hand as she did say and the corners for the boxing I cut 3 1/2 inch squares. I used Pelton Flex-Foam FF77 sew in stabilizer instead of batting, so it would stand up. I had to piece a narrow strip on it to make my size because it’s only 20 inches wide. My husband cut my dowel at 16 inch but I’m thinking of getting him to cut another inch off. If anyone knows the size of the one made different from this, that will hold 3 queen size quilts let me know. The one I saw had a toile print outer bag and a Buffalo check inside. I guess I could measure around some quilts folded or rolled up together and get the measurements like that but if you already know, I’ll save my brain cells-lol I used everything but the printed corners I cut out. The 5 inch cut outs I used for inside pocket. I put a zipper in mine so the top narrow strip was made by sewing my yellow 3 1/2 inch corner cutouts together then pressing in half lengthwise. You can tell it’s pieced but it’s inside and I told you I was limited with my fabric. Hope you like and if you have some tips please share what you’ve found works for you as I plan to make a friend one. I would give her this one but I put my zipper in for a left handed person. I was on the phone (lol) and trying to sew. I usually unzip from left to right. This one unzips from right to left. Does it really matter or is this why a friend says I’m OCD about my sewing?🤷‍♀️ Have a nice day-Toogie

Great job with the tote. I just saw that pattern recently and thought it would be fun.

I don’t think it matters about the zipper direction. It will be fine.

Pretty! I like making bags and pouches. Mine are usually pretty simple though.

well i couldn't find the Oly at Walmart so thought about online. then i went to Kohl's and looked at socks. found handbags of course, i like to peruse them and found a bright hot pink mesh bag. side pockets. cost $22.00, got it for $10.00 with coupons. so now i don't have to make one. has side pockets too and large enough for a king quilt folded. yea!!
