    Default quilt for my Dad

Dad has always been on the go, and is finding it very difficult confined to a nursing home setting. thought this might cheer him up

That's sure to brighten his life! Make sure his name is on the back.
I printed on my sewing machine a long length of grosgrain ribbon with my mother's last name with my embroidery alphabet. I keep it with a needle and thread for everything that comes in. Yes, they do have a service to put labels on but it takes days. The last thing I sewed labels in were her new slippers so she could put them right on.

I would really emphasize a well attached label. One of my sister's quilts walked. My brother's only was returned because of the label.

Constant reminders of being loved are very important.

I agree with the label suggestions. I love this off set square in a square pattern. Since you made it, he is going to treasure it always.

Very attractive, masculine quilt! Should perk up his room.

Since labels can "come off", wouldn't it be nice to have family pictures in each of the off-set squares. It would be less likely to get lost that way. It's a beautiful quilt and I'm sure your dad will love it.
