    Default Quilters Stand for Ukraine

Here is the quilt I made using Pat Sloan's pattern and the label from happysewlucky.com (says "Peace" in Ukrainian).
Like many I was so saddened seeing the terrible news every night re: Ukraine, but felt helpless. This is my way
to give a little something, along with my donation to UNICEF for children from Ukraine, to the refugees who have had to leave for their safety and the safety of their families.
I sent it, plus two more, full size quilts to Becky Petersen (one half of the Quilted Twins) to Poland yesterday.

I've just started working on Bonnie Hunter's Hearts of Hope to donate as well.

Thanks for doing that. I think we all feel like we should do something. You actually did something.

This is so nice and sweet of you. They look amazing the quilt and label.
We actually have a couple down the road from us, that have been in the process of adopting two children, brother and sister. The brother’s adoption has been ‘in the process’ way before the war, but they only recently found out about the sister so they are trying to get her too. The couple just came back from Poland where they had been waiting for the kids/orphanage to evacuate to. They got to spend time with the kids before flying home. He’s a pastor and she is a teacher. The boy a teen told how terrified they were and pictures showed his smiling face after reaching them in Poland. You may have seen the couple on the news, the Romero’s. Thank you again for your actions of doing ‘something’. Bless you

It saddens me greatly what is going on in Ukraine, it is heart breaking. I am also working on a quilt to be sent to some refugee. There are many in this area that are shipping things out or receiving refugees in their homes here. I haven't decided which direction it will be headed, most likely to Poland. The quilt won't be done for several weeks yet as I need to send it to be LA. I am also just now finishing the sashing. It is coming along. Soon.
Your quilt is so beautiful front and back! You are an example of what can be done. Humbly I hope others follow your lead.

I am just curious to know if there are legitimate aid organizations that see to it quilts and such make it to people who need them. These people are very transient in a lot of situations and can’t take much with them. I’ve donated money to several organizations I think are real and are helping people with food, water, medicines etc. hard to know what is best.
