Default scrappy patriotic quilt made for FIL in TN

My FIL is an old Army nurse, and I had sent to his sister last Christmas a Quilt. When I asked him what kind of quilt he wanted, he said, no, those things take so long to make and don't waste your time making one for me, but I do like red white and blue and civil war things. So this is what I made him.

I do love a good patriotic quilt. Love the different blocks around the outside border. Beautifully done.
    Thank you for sharing.

My quilting guild was doing an underground railroad blocks and I thought, heck, I will just kill two birds with one stone, so I started those blocks. Unfortunately by the time I got the blocks figured out, I had to add borders because I needed bigger blocks, so it was weird. It is my very first scrappy type quilt so I love it.
