I have been making color coded squares, like in the last picture, diagonally on 10" papers. Since they will make a heavy quilt, I hope to make enough one day for a picnic quilt.

Great ideas. Sorry I cut mine close to the selvage and toss. I'm not real fond of the looks. Besides I have way too much fabrics to spend time on those.

Homespun, I have a friend that string quilts that way and she loves it. She was actually the one that talked me into saving smaller pieces of fabric. I haven't seen a phone book in forever but am glad someone is using them for something. Do you wash the top in your washer or soak it first? How does that work?

I will never, never, never use selveges in a Quult but they are super for lots of other projects. They make especially good ties for plants that drop like tomatoes, peony’s, things like that. I’ve see. C,toning and bags made with them but never in quilts.

A friend of my niece used them to make a Halloween Quilt and the Mummy was made of the selvedge pieces. It was so cute. For me - I send them to people when I get a fair amount saved up.
