    Default Squared Away

My baby brother is getting married next month to a real sweetie of a woman, so tickled to have her join the family and even more thrilled at how happy they are together. I made them this summer couch quilt for their wedding gift based on the Pretty in Pink pattern that uses charm squares (although I used fat quarters cut down). I put the whole center together and then sliced and added the white lattice strips (and did similar with the border), used flannel for the backing with no batting and bound it with a flange binding. It was a little scary cutting a sewn top but as a fairly new quilter it was easier than trying to accurately piece the blocks and get all the seams to match up. Also just stitched in the ditch for quilting. I named it 'Squared Away' for the design as well as a nod to his military career. Thanks for looking.

That is so clever to cut the quilt and then add the sashing. I will have to remember that.

What a great idea that is. Love the looks and the way it turned out. Also love that you are thrilled for your brother and his new "real sweetie" wife. Sounds like she is marrying into a great family!

It's a great looking quilt! I'm sure they will enjoy cuddling together under it. Bravo to you for the courage to try something innovative.
