    Default Trying new things

Made these twin quilts for two little girls. Learning how to use my mid arm that I bought from a sweet lady in New Mexico. Tried a new way of sewing the binding on with the sewing machine. Saw Pat Sloan the guild meeting and she said she sews her binding on the back of the quilt then lays the binding edge on the sewed line on the front and blanket stitches it. Still room for improvement for me, but I really liked doing it this way.

Your quilts look great. I too do my binding that way. It has never made sense to me to handstitch a binding on a quilt that has been completely stitched in all other areas on the machine. The quilts that I make get a lot of hard use and many washings and machine stitched bindings stand up better. I use all sorts of decorative stitches on them and sometimes even a straight stitch! They all work out just fine and as these quilts are not going into a competition of any kind, no one else even knows.

it looks great! unless it's a show quilt, i sew the bindings on the back and turn to the front, too.

I had to laugh at myself this morning. I was doing opposite and messing it up. Just couldn't get it right. I was sewing the binding on the front then trying to "match it up" by sewing straight line on the back. LOL not the way to go.
