Eyes are beautiful. I have no talent but, I think the nose and mouth area is a bit too busy. I would replace the lighter colors with darker. Just a suggestion.

The dog's eyes are mesmerizing. You've done great honor to your dog.

You have done a wonderful job of bringing out the detail of this beautiful black lab. I think it is hard to do that for a black dog. I find it hard to show their detail even in a photograph. (My daughter has two beautiful black labs.) And you captured the beautiful brown eyes, also. The red background will let the face shine. I love it, can you tell? Your husband will, too! Hope you show a picture when completed.

Check out the quilts made by Ann Shaw. She uses some unusual graphic fabrics as backgrounds. She has some dog quilts. Her quilts are pieced, but the inspiration will be there.

    Fantastic work!
The only thing that struck me is that with most dogs there is usually some sort of split that travels down from the middle of the nose to create the lips. Maybe just a tiny bit more definition in that area.

Black animals are really tough to do and you've done a really good job.
