    Default Food safety question

I knew It would happen eventually....forget a grocery bag/item in my vehicle. It was a large Coffee-Mate liquid non-dairy creamer. I find conflicting reports online regarding its safety if not refrigerated. It was in my car 2 days. Although this product is sold refrigerated, the bottle does not indicate it should be kept chilled. I guess it's best to toss and not take a chance.

When something like that happens to me I figure it’s just not worth it to take the chance. What are you out? A couple of dollars vs a really bad health experience.

This is from the Coffee Mate website:

"How long can Coffee Mate creamer be left out of the fridge?"

Coffee mateŽ liquid products found in the refrigerated case must be refrigerated at all times, before and after opening. Only Coffee mateŽ liquid products that are clearly marked “Refrigerate After Opening” may be stored in a dry, cool place before opening, but must be refrigerated after opening.

"If in doubt, throw it out!" A quote from my dietetics faculty friends.

Reminds me of finding something in my mom's refrigerator growing up. We would say, "No one has died so far." Just the same, I'm quick to toss if it is suspect. Toss it.

I do a lot of canning so food safety is foremost. I go by the motto "When in doubt throw it out!" Nothing is worth food poisoning.

2 days? That's a no brainer. Do not use it.

i take no chances - it would already be in the trash if I left it in the car for a day.

I agree, it's not worth the agony and pain.
