I had this once years ago and it was delish! All I remember is that it had coconut and a tub of cool whip in it, maybe even vanilla pudding? Anyone have a similar recipe? Thanks!

doing a google search I came up with this.
I've never had Hawaiian Wedding Cake. Ok, actually never heard of it.

Thanks for rounding these up! : ) Will look to see if any of these are similar to what I remember. Funny, I've only heard of it that one time. I just remember it was sooooooo good.

none of those included Cool Whip, but I have seen recipes that will call for some sort of frosting and Cool Whip will be substituted for it.

I've found that if someone adds pineapple or mac nuts to anything, they automatically name it Hawaiian whatever.
I've been to many bakeries there, restaurants and eateries, to include homes of the locals. Never heard of it.
Have sat with a few wedding cake makers and none of them had even mentioned it either.
Does it mean it doesn't exist there? No, just never heard of it, that's all

Interesting...pineapple + mac = Hawaiian. I can see that happening. Amazing the origin of things, sometimes, accurate or not, and how it "sticks." I will have to try a couple of these and hope something comes close to what I remember. Thanks for the scoop!

Well? If you get pizza with pineapple and ham, they call it Hawaiian, right? :)

I just looked at the recipe and it's the same cake I know as Hummingbird cake. Maybe the names are regional.
