    looking at the chart posted in the first message, 9.5 cut, should give you a 12" finished block. ?

    always do a mock up,when your not sure. great way to use your ugly fabric and muslin!

    doing it the usual way, you would cut 7" squares

    2" squares = 1" HST
    2 1/2" = 1 1/2
    3 1/2 " = 2"
    4" - 2 1/2
    5" = 3 1/2
    6" = 4
    7" = 4 1/2
    8" = 5"
    8 1/2 = 5 1/2
    9" - 6
    10" - 7
    I did find it easier to trim all my corners after I pressed when I was making small size for a 3" finished pinwheel.
    what is HST?
