I just finished sewing the strips together and have two cautions. After sewing the strips together into one very long piece, do not roll them up but just lay or toss them in a bag. I tried rolling mine and it twisted or curled like yarn does.

Next, when sewing the ends together to make 2's 4's.etc. make sure not to twist the strips. At one end I had a twist and had to cut part of it off and resew it. For those who knit in the round it is similar to not having all stitches going the same direction when doing the join and first row after cast-on.

Here's one for you, Omak! Just found out we're invited to a 1yr old's birthday party a week from today. How many strips would it take to make a quiltie she could carry around with her that wouldn't be crib-sized, yet possibly big enough for a quick cover up? Is that clear as mud?

Remember, this is "no rules" quilting! Everyone makes it their own. If it doesn't suit you, it could be a charity quilt!

    Baby Quilt Question:
The best I could come up with would be 20 strips:
    20 x 40" = 800"
    double once: 400" x 4.5"
    double twice: 200" x 8.5"
    double three times: 100" x 16.5
    last time: approx. 50" x 32.5
Plus what ever size borders you want.
    OR
    18 strips:
    18 x 40" = 720"
    double once: 360" x 4.5"
    double twice: 180" x 8.5"
    double three times: 90" x 16.5"
    last time: approx 45" x 32.5"
    Plus borders.
    Should work great!

Thank you so much for putting in so much time and trouble. Sorry I didn't get back to you till now, our daughter-in-law had a baby shower this weekend so I went to Georgia and didn't take the laptop. Our son is in Afghanistan so I will be staying with her and our granddaughter for about 6 weeks. I will be taking my sewing machine with me of course. No need to go any further. The last measurements will work perfectly. I really do appreciate the help. Numbers are not my strong point :)
