Default Help please, another fw 221 motor brush question...

    Hi again,
I've ordered in new brushes for my newest fw 221 motor. Problem is the new brushes are smaller (especially the peg top) than the old one. At first I only ordered the brushes, not springs too. The springs are way too big for the brushes.

When I saw the brushes were smaller, I contacted the seller, he sent another set, same thing.
So I ordered another set, from a different seller that I know is well versed in fws. This time I ordered spring and brush combo. The brushes are same smaller size as the other prior two I ordered, and the new springs are much smaller, too.

Hubby and I pulled the springs and brushes from my 1st fw, they're the same larger size as the original ones in my my 2nd fw.

So are replacements just smaller?? To us it seems like there's too much "play" if we try to insert and use the new smaller ones. I'm stumped. The sellers are both at a loss...
I told hubby I know who to check with, my QB vintage machine people will help..So here I am.
    Here's a pic showing what I mean:

    Thanks all,
    Kif

You definitely want them to fit snug. I have a couple part numbers. #109782 is the smaller motor brushes (4mm X 4mm X 5mm), and #192457 is a little bigger (5.5mm X 5.5mm X 13mm) but doesn't come with the springs. The latter may be the one you need. You can always re-use the springs from the old brushes.

I can't use the old springs, because if you look close, the "peg top" of the new brushes are smaller, and the springs are too big for them...
Oh wait, you mean get the bigger brushes and use old springs I bet..
I haven't been able to get either seller to understand what the issue is.
I originally did order just the brushes to re-use the old springs. But they don't fit. That seller said he'd send correct size for fw 221, but I received same thing . Then I went with different seller, and I thought, just order the brushes with springs. So I did, but both brushes and springs are a lot smaller...
I certainly have plenty of small brushes now..lol

So the fw 221 motors can vary?? Meaning some have smaller brushes/springs sets and some have larger?
Because both sellers have said these are the right ones, and I took it that there are only one size.

I'll see if I can find the larger brush by the part number you supplied.
thank you so much for the reply and help!!
    Regards,
    K

Using the part # 192457, it shows those fit the Singer 201 and some sellers say will fit 201 and 221.
I ordered a set, and I thank you so much! I had no idea there were 2 different sizes...learn something new every day.

Anyone want to buy 4 new smaller carbon brushes and a new smaller brush/spring set?? Lol..
    Regards,
    Kif

I hope those work for you. Yes, there can be different size motors on the same machines. Good Luck!
