Default I may have found an affordable featherweight!

Any tips when checking it out? Any parts to check for?

I know nothing except I am intrigued by tgem. And think they are cute.

Make sure the bobbin case is there and make sure it sews. Check all the wiring. The Featherweight Shop on line has most replacement parts.

Congratulations. If the price is right and it is in working order and the wiring is in good shape it will be an excellent addition to your sewing experiences. The nice thing about the FW is that it is an easy machine to repair if it needs any repairs. There are great tutorials on just about everything that might need repaired on a FW. The FW store is great and a good place for the best information. I purchased mine for $125 sight unseen on craigslist about a year ago.

If it's a good price buy it up! You can always replace the wiring if it's bad. It's not too hard to do it yourself and there are tutorials on youtube that can help you do it. I've replaced wiring on a 201 and it's not that hard.

If it doesn't seem to be sewing properly don't give up, many a Featherweight has been discarded because the needle was put in wrong. If I remember correctly it should be NFL, "needle flat side to the right"

I agree. If the price is right, snap it up. I bought a jammed white FW at an estate sale for $50. I had it working in 2 days with oil. I loosened the belt and tested it to make sure the motor worked and then bought it. At that price, I figured I could afford to spend $125 with my OSMG to get it working if I needed to.

Fun! I got my fw. A few months ago and I love it. I just did a refurbish on the case today as a matter of fact.

Bonnie Hunter just posted 2 featherweights for sale in her Quiltville Inn area yesterday on her Quiltville site. They wanted $325 for them and since everyone in her group had one they left them for someone else. She thought they were priced a little high for their condition.

'Don't you mean "Needle Flat side to the Left" ?? Then after threading through the needle guide, you would thread right to left.
