Singer 185J bobbin cover/slide
SIL just brought this home, while I was helping her clean and oil it, the slide/cover came off completely. It had bump/something so it is not suppose to come off. Any idea how to get that sucker back on so it will stay? Or have I broken something?

If you slid it back on and made sure both ends of the spring were in both grooves of the needle plate, and it still falls off, look closely at the ends of the spring to make sure an end has not been broken off by a heavy hand. The one I bought had the needle plate loose with the machine. About a quarter inch had been broken off one end of the spring. In getting the spring out, I stripped the threads of the screw, so ordered it at the same time as the spring from Sew Classic. Shipping cost more than the two parts.

Thanks for the great info! Machine jammed up so I was trying clean and slide cover came off! Who knew! Thanks for helping me fix issue. I have a janome memory craft I bought in 2001 but this little green machine just keeps on keeping on! Lol.
