Default 1885 Singer Industrial. The "New Manufacturing" (pre-16)

Greetings folks,

This beast just arrived today. I could not let it sit on the auction site (without me) so I got it for under $20!!

and to just start things out with a bang...

This shows what a REAL industrial sewing machine looks like sitting
next to her domestic sister Singer 12 (Elma) they date to within 5 years of each other

This looks suspiciously like W&W tech...

20 years before Singer bought W&W, this REALLY looks like a W&W bobbin

The bottom. I LOVE these early cast in logos...

With the back access plate removed..

Again with the W&W tech. the screw in needlebar guide is almost identical to the ones used on my W&W 8 and 9

Like all good used machines she spins smooth as glass. one good oil and the second spin of the hand wheel just freewheeled. Almost no slop either... Can't wait to get this into the industrial treadle that is waiting for it.

For those who care about such things (like me)

Fantastic machine, Steve!

Two comments off the bat: First, I didn't know that any manufacturer cast in logos on the bottom of their machines. That's tremendous. Second, how cool is that massive back side access plate!

Please post a shot of the back side with the access plate in place. How is it secured?
Thanks, Brian

That looks massive! Is the 12 it's next to a full-size or 3/4 size machine?

Looks like it'd be an amazing quilting machine with all that throat space.
