Default 319 double needle, or?

Our 319 has the largest arch of all the ZZ machines we have.

I'm getting real close to finishing up my latest quilt top and when I quilt it I was thinking of using double needles with the serpentine cam #20, to make a wavy stitch line.

However the 319 takes that special size needle and the double one is a 306x1, and I've yet to see one for sale.

So my question is, can two regular needles be fitted in the needle bar like the 401s or 500s? I haven't tried to do this yet as I still have some piecing to do.

If anyone has one or more of the dual needles they'd like to part with, please PM me.

Joe

You won't be able to put two needles in the 319, but it's an interesting idea: Maybe you can modify the existing needle clamp. Great White?

Nah, I'm not about to modify a 319 that works properly. I might mess it up.

Must be too early in the morning for me, what's "Great White"?

You might want to PM Cathy M. and ask if she has one she'd part with.

I thought it was a call for Bob and Doug, the McKenzie Brothers.

Not heard of them, but GW in Canada is an engineer and would be very curious about this. Presumably he hasn't seen the post. I just acquired another 319(K), coincidentally. It was completely frozen, so I've been going through the book (technical service manual) from the Yahoo groups. So far fixed the needle height, hook timing, bight control (which was gummed up), wiring. Can't remember the last time I had this much fun

I've been busy finishing the top to my last quilt and..... finally ..... (see Joe heaving a BIG sigh) getting my ailing Edison clone to sew. So I've not had the time to peruse eBay or anywhere else for those double needles.
Will try to find Great Whites profile and fire off a PM.

Oh, Candace, who is Cathy M? I know a couple Cathys but none with an M last name.

Steve,

Well, I just struck out on eBay, so I'll go get the owners manual to verify the needle number and PM her.
