Default Another National

I've been lusting after one of these since Oldsewnsew posted pictures of his. I wish he'd stop finding neat machines!

Here is what the seller listed
" This was working when we initially test it. Now i can hear the motor hum but it doesnt run the needle. We can manually spin dial at end of machine to get needle to function. So not sure what is wrong."

Turns out it had a flat tire - the machine is a bit stiff so does need oiling to get it to run freely. And with the flat tire removed, the motor runs fine.

The case got some damage in shipment, I'm pretty sure I can fix it well enough. Inside is very yukky anyway.

It's smaller than I expected. Here are pictures of it next to a full size VS machine. It's not another National - because, ummm (I don't own a full size National VS machine) I can fix that though.

Notice I straightened out the foot once I got it upstairs where I had a screwdriver.

I checked tracking, and should have four boxes of attachments coming in the mail in about an hour - and one of them is the ONE I'm quite excited to be getting. Ok - I'm excited about them all, but one even more so (if it's what I hope it is).

the mailman is running late . . .

BTW - the part I'm so excited about fits a different National machine.

Ya know, my mailman has the SAME issue. If he is delivering bills or spam, he is there on time or early, but have a package I am waiting for and he seem show up the latest possible time.

glad you got that Cathy! Mine was from a very nice woman quilter and not far away, no damages at all on that one IIRC.

Is there a purpose for the extra large slide plate or is it just for looks?
Neat machine. Interesting combination of old and new.

It's actually a VS machine, so instead of having two long narrow slides, they went with a large half circle. So it's sort of both - it does need to be all the way from front to back, but it doesn't need to be round like that. And for sure the opposing side does not need to be like that.

Neet machine. We were watching one badged as a Montgomery Ward. Same exact machine. I wondered if it was a VS or a rotary.

Joe - if it's got the very large round plate, it's going to be the same machine so it would be a VS.
