301 foot control?

301 foot control?
We have purchased a tan 301 from E-bay. It came with the original foot control as it is also tan. When plugged in the foot control will allow you to turn on the light but it will not run the machine. The wiring appears to be in good condition. Will we have to buy new foot control or is there some repair we can make. The machine runs great with the cord from another 301 we have so we know it is not the machine.

The foot control might be the same color as the machine, but it sounds like it was either for a different machine or there is a broken or loose wire in the controller or someone has been in the cord block and wired it wrong.
The fact that the light works indicates to me the power from the cord is getting to the light. But it's not getting through the controller and back to the motor. Somethings amiss there.

Sorry about duplicate. DH was making his first attempt at posting and didn't find the replies. Therefore he thought he did something wrong and original post didn't work. He is way into the addiction to vintage machines and would like to repair and sell a few, so I am trying to help him learn how to use the forum.
