Default Darning Foot 121094

Hi all.
I have a vintage simanco darning foot 121094 that's missing a spring. Anyone ever run into this that could point me in the direction for a replacement? Thanks!

I would just make one. I have been able to fabricate missing springs using fence wire. There are videos on youtube showing how to make springs and bend wire in general.

In short, no idea and i wouldn't be hopeful in doing so am afraid. And no idea on where to find a similar spring that would work. The Featherweight Shop online sells the foot but is expensive also at $100 imo. Apologies, not really helpful.

Music wire may also be used.

I think I am going to try modifying a safety pin, actually. Popped into my head overnight. I'll give that a whirl.
Yeah, they are expensive. I was excited to find it in a box of feet.. only to realize the spring was MIA.

I have this foot and have used it to give it a try... but I'm curious, could someone school me as to why it's sprung to hold the foot *up* instead of down against the fabric? I cannot figure out why it's constructed that way.
