Default Estate Find-15-91

My DH and I went to an estate sale yesterday, and found a 15-91. It is in really good shape, it was made Sept. 1952. The attachments, buttonholer and manual was also with it. We paid $65 for it, the cabinet is nice too. I love the way it sounds when it runs, has a nice stitch too. I oiled her up and she was ready to go. Just wanted to share.

That is great. So glad you like it. I have my mother's which is from 1950 and it is still going strong all these years later.

You got a great deal! I paid $50 for mine (no cabinet), and dh replaced a spring in the bobbin winder area for me. I purchased a foot for doing fmq and did quite a few oiling sessions to loosen the screw to lower feed dogs. It's ready to go. As soon as I finish the quilt I'm working on, I'll do a project with my 15-91 to really get to know the machine. Didn't want to switch fmq'ing to a different machine half way thru in case it didn't go well! Enjoy your's.

I have heard that the 15-91 is great for fmq, I will have to get a darning foot for it. This makes 21 sewing machines that is in my herd. Just like potato chips. Can't stop at one. LOL

You will love this machine. I use mine religiously for FMQ, which I am not very good at, but so enjoy doing.

Congrats -- I love mine, an old 15-91 from the early 1930s, that my MIL used for many years and then sat in my sewing room until my 1990s Singer broke a gear recently --didn't know what I was missing by not using the 15-91 as it sews smoothly and has a good-looking stitch -- enjoy!!
