fix the stitch length on my singer 221
hello can any one tell me how to fix the stitch length on my singer 221 so I can quilt a bigger stitch I have tried but can not seem to get it the stitch is too small am trying to quilt a sandwich 12inch long thanks Evelyn

First of all, try stitching on a single layer of fabric and vary your stitch length - see if the number of stitches per inch changes. If the length between stitches doesn't change then adjust the pressure on feet - with a thick sandwich you need a bit more pressure or else the fabric will slip (not advance as it should) which will cause smaller stitches.

Is it shorter than it has been? I've seen this before and it was due to lint and dirt under the feed dogs.
