Default Floppy fabric?

Ok, another ? for all the experts out there...when I put the presser foot down on the fabric, it holds it in place, but when I start sewing, the fabric kind of shifts and is really loose under the foot. I can pivot the material without even raising the presser foot.

What am I doing wrong??

I almost sounds like your feed dogs are down.

Check to see if they are "raised" under the pressure foot.

On my machines you can tighten the feed dogs. That has helped me when I have had that problem.

My Bernina machine has the ability to change the pressure on the foot with a dial on the side. OR Does your machine have the ability to lower the feed dogs for free motion quilting? If so, check your manual and see if that is the problem. Someone might be able to give you better tips if you say what kind of machine it is.

If it isn't your feed dogs, you may need to see if your pressure foot pressure is released or down tight. On some machines it is just a button outside the thingy that pops up. Other that that, you may need to see a manual to get the pressure adjusted. I would reach through my computer screen & do it for you but there seems to be some kind of blockage. Shoot a pic of the pressure foot pressure knob - it is on top of most machines just over the lever that raises and lowers the pressure foot. If your machine has a pressure foot pressure adjustment some where else you will need to locate that adjustment thingy. Some of the newer machines have more sophisticated methods.

I shot a pic on one so you get some idea what to look for:
The pressure foot pressure screw thingy is down like is it suppose to be

The pressure foot pressure screw thingy is up and fabric won't feed:

to fix that one just push on the thingy in the middle and it should go down and stay down and pull fabric through.

It's a FW 221, or Miss Hattie, as I call her!

to my knowledge those don't have a pop up and the feed dogs don't drop. You may need to check to see if that pressure foot pressure screw it adjusted. Check your owner's manual.
